A concert evening dedicated to romance and poetry will be held on August 8 at 9:30 p.m. at the church of Mary’s Assumption. The leading people are Mladen Bjažić, a poet, and a musically talented married couple Mirna and Orest Shourgot. Their goal is to help collect the necessary resources with their talent for the restoration of the church organ. Therefore, the entire revenue from the tickets, which are at a symbolic price of 20 KN, as the possible voluntary contribution, will be donated for that purpose.
MLADEN BJAŽIĆ
The soul of the Chakavian idiom from Zlarin. He was born in 1924 in Zlarin. He graduated from the Teacher Training College and attended the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He worked as an editor of children’s magazines and of the program for children and youth at TV Zagreb. Besides poetry, Bjažić writes prose and theatrical plays for children, literary essays, journalistic reportages, TV adaptations and scripts. He is the winner of the “Andrija Maurović” award for lifework. 
OREST SHOURGOT
Having got married 15 years ago, Shourgot sailed to Zlarin and remained there. He is a passionate fan of the Zlarin atmosphere and ships. He successfully cleans fish at the Šarina boardwalk. When the Zlarin idleness lets him, he works as a concertmaster at the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, but also as an associate professor at the Music Academy in Zagreb. He performs as a soloist and a conductor, he is a member of the jury at the International Violin Competition Sion Valais and International Violin Competition Novosibirsk. He constantly cooperates with the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts where he plays the famous violin Guarnera del Gesù KING.
MIRNA SHOURGOT
In the summer of 1976 straight from the old maternity ward Mirna arrived at the Donja Banda. She later moved to Gornja Banda, but the relation Grafulin–Šarina boardwalk has remained constant for 37 years. She performed as a répétiteur and as a chamber musician. She graduated in piano in 1999, and in musicology on 2000 with the thesis “Musical Rhetorical Fguration and Symbolism of Numbers in Baroque”. She worked as a répétiteur of the string section at the School of Ballet and Rhythmic Gymnastics in Zagreb, where she works as a piano instructor and répétiteur.
